God in My Details

God fills the expanse of the earth
and every nook and cranny of my home.

God secures the biggest picture
and is aware of the smallest detail.

God reveals Himself in the magnificent
and shows Himself astonishing in the mundane.

Here are some of my life's details where I find God...

plastic toy animals strewn across the living room floor
stubborn carpet stains that prove life
good-natured ribbing with hubby
walking hand in hand in a mall
an unloaded dishwasher
the smell of dial soap conjuring memories of Nana
completely checked-off to do list
watching the unfolding romance of Lizzie Bennett and Mr. Darcy
duplo towers and pillow forts
private battles won with public calm
family walks on brisk "spring" days
fresh-cut pineapple
high-five done independently
inward groans that double as desperate prayers
a kindergartener singing Kari Jobe

Your marvelous doings are headline news;
I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.
Psalm 145:6
